Ant Control Wellington

Ants normally nest in your wall cavities and forage in your gardens, occasionally they may venture indoors in search of a different food source, this is when most people start calling them a pest. You may find ants in your bathroom, kitchen, or pantry. They are foraging for food and also water.
In some cases it may be impossible to feasibly eliminate the ants from your house, in these cases annual maintenance treatments are required which could include a couple of short re-visits throughout the year. While elimination may not be able to be achieved, control definitely can be.
New control techniques are now available in the battle against ants, we use non-repellent treatments on the exterior or your property. This treatment works amazingly well because:
- The ants travel over the treated surfaces unknowingly instead of avoiding areas like last generation treatments;
- It works slowly, giving the ants plently of time to forage for food and make it back to the nest;
- It prevents ants 'budding off' and forming sub-colonies (sub-nests), this causes a larger problem down the track even if it appears it is working (using non-repellent treatments can cause this);
- It works in conjuction with any baits currently being used or added to the treatment.
Details of Treatment
- Dry weather & dry ground is required.
- Works best if house is surrounded by a concrete base or concrete path;
- Ants normally nest in wall cavities and forage in your garden;
- Avoid using any type of spray (including fly spray) against the ants on the exterior of your house.
- Interior repellant treatment can be applied at the same time as exterior at a discounted rate.
Exterior Surfaces Sprayed
- House cladding;
- Concrete or asphalt pathways or driveways;
- Fences;
- Bottom of tree trunks;
- Bricks or pavers;
- Plastic or wood.
What Can you Do to Help Stop Ants?
- Cut back trees from house to prevent bridging;
- If you see an ant trail, investigate it. Ants carry items towards their nest. Look closely at which way the nest is and follow the trail.
- Work together with neighbours, if you have a nest chances are so does your neighbour. Have your annual spray done at the same time, plan bait strategies together (always put in between nest and food source);
- Employ a professional to carry out an annual barrier treatment (repellent) if no ants currently nesting inside, or (non-repellent) if ants are nesting inside
